In a wooded location a memorial stone and plaque remembers those killed in the loss of 50 Sqn Lancaster EE174 VN-A which crashed at this site on 31/03/44

The aircraft had departed Skellingthorpe at 2207 on 30/03/44 for Ops Nuremburg.

It was intercepted at 6000m, N of Bamburg by a Nightfighter captained by Uffz Bruno Rupp (4/NJG3) and shot down at 0108 on 31/03/44 for his 6th Abschuss.
