In a rural location, a memorial pillar, sculpture & plaque remember the crew of 50 Sqn Hampden X2907 VN-M who were killed when their aircraft crashed close to this site on 06/11/40

The aircraft had departed Lindholme at 0045 for Ops Magdeburg.

It was engaged by 1/Res Flak Abt 617 and 3/Res Flak Abt 251, hit and shot down at 0430.

The aircraft crashed near Ootmarsum with the loss of all four crew.
