A propeller unit and info board remember those killed in the loss of 61 Sqn Lancaster DV228 QR-F which crashed close to the spot on 23/08/43

The aircraft had departed Syerston at 2111 on 22/08/43 for Ops Leverkusen.

It was intercepted at 5000M, 5km E of Meerkerk by a Nightfighter captained by Lt Heinz Bock (8/NJG1) and shot down at 0146 on 23/08/43 for his 3rd Abschuss.

The aircraft crashed at Hei-en Boeicop. Six of the crew were killed, one became a POW.
