LM718 QR-K
On the external wall of a commercial
property, a small plaque remembers those killed in the loss of 61 Sqn Lancaster LM718 QR-K which crashed at this site on 23/09/44
The aircraft had departed Skellingthorpe at 1917 for Ops Ladbergen.
It was intercepted at 3500M, 40-50km WNW of Dusseldorf by a Nightfighter captained by Nachtjagd "Experten" Hptm
Ernst-Wilhelm Modrow (1/NJG1) and shot down at 2240 for his 29th Abschuss.
The aircraft was partially abandoned before it crashed near Deurne. Two of the crew were killed, two became POW's,
