In a rural location, a roadside memorial stone, plaque & information board remembers the crew of 50 Sqn Lancaster PA968 VN-S who were killed when their aircraft crashed close to this site on 25/07/44

The aircraft had departed Skellingthorpe at 2218 on 24/07/44 for Ops Donges.

It was engaged by Flak, hit and shot down.

The aircraft crashed near Pontchâteau with the loss of all seven crew.
